50 YEAR YURI GAGARIN BACKGROP DESIGN : RUSSIA EMBASSY

It is my proud to design graphic for "50 Years Since The First Human Space Mission : Yuri Gagarin " for National Science Museum, sponsored by Russia Embassy. I started using sources of images from the photos that the embassy gave to me. As all the images came directly from Russia Embassy, thus, the resolution is good enough to design for a large scale.

I will show my steps when designing this graphic.

I started with the red blank canvas as I knew Yuri was a part of the moment when Russia was the Soviet Union, which they were communism.



This was so beautiful capture of Yuri I've ever seen. Because he face to the left. So I decide to position him to the right.



I place another photo of shuttle base of Vostok 1 behind his photo.



Use smoke brush to give some effect of smoke that coming out from the shuttle. I want to make it looks more exciting and real.



I put Yuri's statue to the left above the space shuttle base to be represent his honor.



I put the capture when Russian people were congratulating to Yuri that he successfully proceeded the mission.



Brush all the edges of the image to make it looks smoothly blur, then use Overlay layer effect to make the image looks like it's embedded with the sky background.





To show that his mission was extremely famous at that time, so I retouch the newspaper that said about his mission behind Yuri, I also put the Russian flag to be embedded by Overlay effect at the background, to make it looks very memorial for all the Russian.



The left space is prepared for putting the information like : title, logo, etc. But inorder to make it looks interesting and get along with the overall graphic, I designed it looks like wavy fabric in red.



I decided to reduce the density at the middle of the background by just moving congratulating people to the bottom left.

I put Soviet Union logo, title and other information.

I made blink of stars on the sky to present he was the first human in the world that could reach successfully up into space.
